ooc: Ok i’m on some fashion emergency.
I love lolita fashion but since i’m plus size and i don’t have much money I can’t afford a brand dress or anything, but the point here is that I love steampunk fashion too and I’ve seen some coords mixing lolita and steampunk.
I heard that some lolitas don’t like that, or think that’s not lolita… I found the dress on the link and I really love it! It’s cheap, has a size that could fit me and the site is quite good (i bought from them several times and they have a great service).
This dress is quite plain but that gives me posibilities of customizing it with chains, gears or whatever steampunkish…
But the problem is… won’t other lolitas out me down for this? An off-brand dress and a “non lolita rules” coord? (even if i use a petti under that)
I want some experienced lolitas opinion on that and what should I do…
Thanks for reading.
I do steampunk lolita since some time now and honestly: I don’t care, what other lolitas might think about it. I just do what I love! In my opinion steampunk is an excellent way to be creative.
And even if some lolitas might not like it, why would you care? One does not have to like everything ;) I’m sure there are substyles that you don’t like either…
Plus: Most steampunks seem to like steampunk lolita quite a lot because most lolitas put a lot of afford in creating an unique outfit, which goes really well with the steampunk DIY attitude.
So my opinion: get the dress and be creative! Maybe you could get some fabric paint? Top hats, flying airships, stuff like that?
And I’d suggest some more lace. Be careful with the gears (always remember the song “Just glue some gears on it” ;) ) but the chains sound like a great idea!
Whatever you make out of the dress: I’m curious to see it :) so let me know ;)
