blahblahcrazyness asked: Good tip about not calling it a costume. I do want to buy or make pieces that I could wear to an office setting if I want to. The only things I have right now are shoes, that I need to make some clips for, and tights. Since the convention is four days I want to get things that I can mix and match and not have to carry too much in my suitcase. I'll try to get some pictures of the tights and shoes and post them on my tumblr soon.
Well then I’d start with a simple brown skirt, because you can wear it as a skirt or get an underskirt and gather the first skirt, so you already have two options.
Next I suggest to get some ruffly blouses, they don’t need much space but can change a whole outfit.
Another thing very versatile are vests/waiscoats. You can change a whole outfit by adding a vest.
Same goes for a bolero or jacket. You can watch out for military looking stuff. I always buy stuff like that 2nd hand, because it was in vogue some years ago, so you can get it quite cheap. (Same for ruffly blouses)
Last thing I’d look for are different hats.
I hope that helps you!
